AI Assisted Music Registration Upgrade: Customisable Role Weights and Clearer AI Involvement Records

AAM's registration system has been updated with customisable role weights, additional creative roles, and a clearer role-level AI involvement breakdown across registration records and confirmation emails.

The Australian AI Music Alliance has released an update to the ISRC-AAM-CID registration system, giving creators more flexibility in how AI involvement is recorded across different creative roles.

1. Customisable Role Weights

The AAM framework uses eight default creative roles to structure AI involvement:

Songwriter (Music), Songwriter (Lyrics), Producer, Vocalist, Instrumentalists, Recording Engineer, Mixing Engineer and Mastering Engineer.

These eight roles remain the default structure and cannot be renamed or removed. However, their weights can now be adjusted to better reflect the creative process behind an individual recording.

Creators can also add additional roles where relevant.

If one of the default roles was not involved in the recording, its weight can simply be set to 0. The total weight across all roles must equal 100%.

To make adjustments easier, the registration form also includes Distribute evenly and Restore 8 default roles options.

Weights should reflect the actual creative process, supported where appropriate by creative records, collaboration agreements or other reasonable grounds.

The underlying AAM calculation remains unchanged:

No AI = 0% · AI-Assisted = 50% · AI-Generated = 100%

Each role's weight is combined with its AI involvement level to calculate the overall AI Score (0–100) and corresponding AAM0–AAM4 level.

Existing registrations remain unchanged.

2. Clearer Registration Records

The registration completion page and confirmation email have also been updated to provide a clearer record of the submitted information.

A new AI Involvement Breakdown shows each registered role together with its AI involvement level, assigned weight and weighted contribution to the overall AI Score.

This makes it easier to see the information behind the headline AAM level, rather than relying on the final score alone.

Registered works can then be searched through the AAM Music Index Search, submitted to the AI Music Charts, or distributed and promoted through Artiswap.

3. Toward More Granular AI Disclosure

The update reflects a simple principle: AI involvement can vary significantly across different parts of the creative process. This is also one of the areas being explored in the ISRC-AAM-CID 2.0 discussion draft, as the framework continues to evolve toward more granular, structured and interoperable AI disclosure for music.
